As you may have read I am now weaning my baby girl, I can’t believe how quickly she is growing up and that we’ve reached this stage already!
I started the process with some of my own home made purees to introduce her to different tastes and the lovely people at Plum, who I am a huge fan of and used with my toddler, were kind enough to send me some of their first stage pouches to try out too.
They sent some great flavours which combine a mix of sweet and savoury tastes, including Broccoli & Apple, Pear, Blueberry & Purple Carrot and Sweet Potato, Corn & Apple. Once I had introduced baby to a few basic tastes like sweet potato, broccoli, pear, apple and carrot I was able to put these great combinations to the test, whilst trying out a few new tastes for baby at the same time too.
First up we tried Broccoli & Apple as baby girl had already had broccoli and loved it. All I can say is boy did she like this! Her little mouth was chomping at the bit for more and she devoured half a pouch in one evening, with the other half the following day! (Have to say I sampled some to see what it was all about as it’s not a combination I’ve ever had or would have thought about and it was very nice!)
Next we tried Pear, Blueberry & Purple Carrot, yes you heard it right, purple carrot, it’s not a typo! I have to confess I had never heard of purple carrot and it does sound a very mixed combination but one that really does work! Baby girl loved this too and wolfed it down rather excitedly, leaving her with a lovely brownish face! lol! She did have a slight rash on one part of her face for a short time when she ate this and I think this is the blueberry. My toddler used to get the same rash when she had berries. I am going to try her again with blueberries on their own and see.
Finally, we sampled the Sweet Potato, Corn & Apple which once again baby lapped up very happily! When she’d had sweet potato and apple previously she had loved them so it was no surprise that she couldn’t get enough of this! I’ve actually had to stop half way through the pouch each time as I’m pretty convinced she would happily have had the whole thing but I’m aware her little tummy is still very small and immature.
I loved Plum products when I was weaning my first daughter and after sampling some of these great first stage flavours with baby girl will certainly use Plum baby food again without doubt.
What I love about Plum baby food is that they produce food that uses nutritionally rich organic ingredients that are responsibly sourced and they never use additives or unnecessary fillers. As baby’s digestive systems are so immature it’s important to give them the best foods possible so for me Plum baby food is certainly a great choice to make and there’s so many delicious combinations to try at every stage too. Let the taste buds tingle!
Do you use or have you used Plum baby food? Do you have any favourites? I’d love to hear!
